Florida citrus growers will give the U.S. Food and Drug Administration a good agricultural practices document that demonstrates how the industry is working to assure that the fruit they pack is safe.

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama signed a $1.4 billion Food Safety bill.

Despite claims that the bill might prove too expensive, there is probably little chance funding will be withheld.

This legislation is the first major overhaul of the food safety system since the 1930s.  The new law places and emphasis on prevention and gives the Food and Drug Administration food recall powers.
